Mandel Center Faculty Highlights
Pranab Chatterjee was recently appointed as the Grace Longwell Coyle Professor of Social Work at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. Pranab's book Contemporary Human Behavior Theory, with S. Robbins and E. Canda, recently went into second edition. He is currently working on a book entitled Hostage to the Vigilantes: The Story of Ambivalent Modernization in Bengal. Dr. Chatterjee is also working on two papers with Lauren Stevenson on the topic of nonprofit management as a semi-profession.
Steve Feldman, Associate Professor of Management Policy at the Weatherhead School of Management, has been awarded Distinguished Lectureship in Management Ethics in China by the American Fulbright Program. Dr. Feldman will be teaching at Shanghai International Studies University. He will be teaching courses on ethics and professionalism for nonprofit leaders, and business ethics, for seven months starting in January 2007.
Rob Fischer, Research Associate Professor for the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, is President of the Ohio Program Evaluators' Group, a state-wide group of evaluation professionals. He is Principal Investigator on a new study of the quality of early care and education settings in Cuyahoga County funded by the Board of County Comissioners to be completed in 2006. He has an article forthcoming in 2006 in the journal Social Thought on improving evaluation research on faith-based human services.
Merle "Terry" Hokenstad, Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt professor in the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, was recently elected into Columbia University's School of Social Work Hall of Fame.
Miriam R. Levin, an historian of science and technology with Case's history department, was interviewed about her new book, Defining Women's Scientific Enterprise: Mount Holyoke Faculty and the Rise of American Science, in the January issue of Inside Higher Ed.
