Melissa Aulisio Moreira, MNO '04, is the Associate Director of the Case Center for Reducing Health Disparities at MetroHealth Medical Center. The Center's mission is to reduce disparities in health outcomes through research, education, and community partnerships. Melissa was married to Michael Moreira in November 2005.
Judy Comeau-Hart, MNO '94, joined The Cleveland Play House on November 1st as its Director of Development. Previously, Judy was with CCS, a large fundraising consulting firm based in New York.
Anne Marie Cronin, MNO '96, has been named Assistant Dean for Development and External Relations of the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences.
Julie Glavan, MNO '04, was recently promoted to Executive Director of Cleveland Bridge Builders. Julie will marry Frank Griffiths (a current Case JD/MBA student) on October 6, 2006.
Martha Hatcher, MNO '00, recently started a new position as Director of Programs & Services with the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) in Arlington, VA. IRI is the foremost business association of leaders in research and development (R&D) working together to enhance the effectiveness of technological innovation in industry. Founded in 1938 through the National Research Council, IRI comprises senior executives from a diverse range of industries whose member companies are investing over $100 billion annually in R&D worldwide. Martha oversees all programming for the institute, including meetings, seminars and collaborative knowledge creation, where members share insights, solutions and best practices in innovation management. Martha also received her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives in May 2005.
Sarah Johnson, MNO '98, and her husband David Carey, announce the birth of their daughter, Ava Johnson Carey, on January 23, 2006.
Mark Klemens, MNO '02, has co-edited a book entitled Compeer: Recovery Through the Healing Power of Friends (Meliora Press, 2006). Compeer is a nonprofit organization that was established 30 years ago to match people suffering from mental illness with supportive friends. It has grown to over 100 affiliates in the U.S., Canada and Australia. Mark works for the British scholarly publisher Boydell & Brewer as Managing Director of the U.S. office in Rochester, NY. He frequently travels to the company's main office on the rural Suffolk coast. Mark, Barbara and Ginny (age 9) live in Pittsford, NY, where they enjoy cycling along the Erie Canal.
Martha Loughridge, MNO '99, announces the birth of her daughter Nora Loughridge van Lier, who was born on January 7, 2006 at 12:37 am. She weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces at birth and measured 22 inches. Proud father, Piet van Lier, and Martha are adjusting happily to family life.
Michael Mayse, MNO '05, was recently named as the new President and CEO of Neighborhood House Association.
Christine Miller, MNO '05, after working with Recovery Resources in Cleveland for two years, accepted an Account Executive position with IDC in Henderson, Nevada. Founded in 1974, IDC's mission is to provide comprehensive fundraising services. IDC achieves this by communicating their clients' standards and mission making each individual contacted on behalf of their clients feel good about the experience. IDC is committed to building lasting and supportive relationships for and with select not-for-profit organizations whose work, IDC believes, supports the common good. Clear, compelling values - integrity, quality, taste and stewardship - guide their counsel and conduct. As IDC continually reminds their growing family of employees, "Our goal is to do what's right, not what's easy." Christine's experience with IDC thus far has been tremendous. She works with clients from all over the country, ranging from universities, hospitals, zoos, museums and more. For Christine, it was an adventure moving across country and the people in her area are very friendly. She says the climate is great and the landscape is dramatically beautiful.
Mark Mullaney, MNO '04, moved to Michigan in August 2005 and began a new job in January. Mark is now the Program Officer for the Michigan Community Service Commission's AmeriCorps division.
Anelize (Souza) Nader, MNO '03, and her husband J. Alfredo Nader, announce the arrival of Thomas Nader, born on November 8, 2005 in Cleveland.
Jessica Ollis, MNO '03, got engaged over the Christmas holiday to Benjamin Korman. The couple also recently purchased a new home in Medina, Ohio.
Tess Pleiman-Reed, MNO '04, and her husband Jamie Reed (A Case MBA alum) announce the birth of their son, Gavin Lee, who was born on November 3, 2005.
Melanie Powell-Brazil, MNO '94, was promoted to the position of Director for the Cleveland Municipal School District Office of Family and Community Engagement.
David Rice, NCNM '98, founder of Strategic Policy Concepts in Cambridge, MA, has signed a joint venture with TW Management, a private equity firm based in Mumbai, India, to work with the Indian government and faculty at Harvard University on economic policy reforms in India. David was also named as an Adjunct Professor teaching international relations at Suffolk University in Boston.
Shareefah Sabur, MNO '93, spent three weeks in October 2005 in Africa (Uganda, Zambia and Rwanda). She was doing board development in Uganda and representing the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization at the national launch of the African Palliative Care Association. Shareefah was doing organizational development and capacity building in Zambia for the newly formed Palliative Care Association of Zambia. In Rwanda, she was one of five instructors for a week-long palliative care training, which culminated in selecting the steering committee to form the Palliative Care Association of Rwanda.
Debra (Strekal) Wiener, MNO '92, was appointed General Manager of Cleveland Signstage Theatre in January 2006. Formerly Fairmount Theatre of the Deaf, this 31-year-old award-winning nonprofit organization is one of the few in the country where both deaf and hearing actors perform together also using sign language. Debra is the founder of ESTEEM, INC., this nation's 655th "Point of Light." ESTEEM, INC. is partnering with the Family Dream Center, Inc. to help women coming out of prison to move toward self-sufficiency. Debra is also President of ESTEEM Properties, LLC, a real estate investment company that works collaboratively with nonprofits to provide affordable housing for the community. Debra is proud to be an MNO, and still remembers her wonderful classmates and faculty in the program who are all, undoubtedly, still doing good work and doing it well!
