Mandel Center Welcomes its Fall 2005 Entering Class
The Mandel Center enthusiastically welcomes its Fall 2005 entering class. The number of entering students this semester totals 49, which is the highest fall enrollment since 1995. These students are enrolled in the several different programs that the Mandel Center offers: MNO, MNO - Executive Option, MNO/MSSA, CNM, MSSA/CNM, MBA/CNM, and JD/CNM.
The Mandel Center held several orientation and welcoming events for its new students, such as a reception at Gwinn Estate in Bratenahl and a breakfast with Morton Mandel. These events precluded significant networking opportunities, as well as the chance for students to get to know each other in an enjoyable environment.
This year's orientation included an introduction to a case study process, which gave students more direct exposure to the type of interactive student/faculty approaches provided by many of the Center's classes.
"The orientation was very well done and truly welcoming. I liked the fact that the focus was on getting a taste of the program and having the opportunity to get to know our classmates and professors," Shelley Fishbach, MNO candidate, explained. "My favorite part was the reception at Gwinn Estate. I really enjoyed hearing people's stories about how they came to the Mandel Center."
"There's such a diversity of experiences and motivations among the students, alumni, staff members and faculty, and I'm excited to see how that will enhance my involvement with the program," Shelley added.
Caise Rode, MSSA/CNM candidate, said she found the breakfast with Mr. Mandel to be very inspiring.
"I appreciated Mr. Mandel's contributions about the nonprofit sector and particularly enjoyed the informal question and answer section that gave everyone a personal and direct connection to Mr. Mandel's vast experience and success," Caise said.
New students, as well as current students, should feel free to contact any of the Mandel Center staff with questions or concerns that may arise during their time in the Center's programs. Staff may also be helpful with career planning as most of them have extensive backgrounds in the nonprofit sector. Specifically, students may contact Wendy Jelinek at 216.368.8566 to set up an academic advising appointment with Susan Eagan, executive director, or Brenda Marshall, associate executive director. Additionally, you will soon be able to find staff bios on our website to help you get more acquainted with various members of our Center staff.
The Mandel Center is pleased to welcome such an impressive group of students and wishes them great success as they pursue their studies in nonprofit management.
