Awards Luncheon to be Held in March
New Nonprofit Innovation Award Announced
The Mandel Center Awards Luncheon will be held on March 28, 2006 at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel. This year's luncheon will feature the annual Leadership in Nonprofit Management Award, and will also be the first year for the Nonprofit Innovation Award. This new award will honor a Cleveland nonprofit organization that has creatively used its resources to advance its mission.
In selecting an honoree for the Nonprofit Innovation Award, a committee of community leaders will consider the following criteria in three areas:
- The record of the innovation - that is, the organization's demonstrated inventiveness in using traditional products or services in new ways to increase the effectiveness of the organization's goal or breakthrough with new solutions that withstand the test of time.
- Expansion beyond traditional organizational boundaries - creatively addressing urgent problems in new ways and teamwork and collaborations within and outside the organization.
- Creation of a culture or climate of innovation within an organization - an organization's record of rewarding and encouraging creativity within an organization and its effectiveness in identifying or anticipating community or civic needs.
The Mandel Center's Leadership in Nonprofit Management Award recognizes an outstanding nonprofit executive in the Cleveland community. The Center has presented this award, co-sponsored by its Mandel Center Alumni Association, annually for 10 years.
Welcoming Remarks for the luncheon will be given by Case President Edward Hundert and the keynote address will be given by William Shore. Bill Shore is the founder and executor director of Share Our Strength (SOS), a national nonprofit that inspires and organizes individuals and businesses to share their strengths in innovative ways to help end hunger.
Nominations for each award can come from organizations or leaders in the arts, environment, education, health, human services and philanthropy. The deadline for nominations and support materials of both awards is January 11, 2006.
