Dennis Young Pursues Director of Nonprofit Studies Opportunity in Atlanta
It is with mixed emotions that the Mandel Center announces that one of its own, Professor Dennis Young, will be leaving the Center to pursue an exciting opportunity at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Dr. Young will be serving as the Bernard B. and Eugenia A. Ramsey Professor of Private Enterprise in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State. His appointment is in the Department of Public Administration and Urban Studies with a joint appointment in the Department of Economics. Dr. Young will be director of Nonprofit Studies for the school, and will provide faculty leadership in developing the school's research, education and service programs in nonprofit studies. The Andrew Young School currently offers nonprofit concentrations in its MPA and Master of Urban Studies programs, as well as a graduate certificate in nonprofit management. Dr. Young will be helping to build a new center for nonprofit studies at the school which will involve faculty from a variety of disciplines and will engage with the Atlanta and national nonprofit communities.
"I leave with mixed emotions, having made lots of friends here, seen many of our students go on to distinguished nonprofit careers, and having enjoyed the rich cultural life of this community," Dr. Young said. "But I'm very excited by the new opportunities facing me in Atlanta, which is a very dynamic city with a growing nonprofit sector of its own. I look forward to the new challenges, and I will continue to follow the progress of the Mandel Center and hope for its continued success."
The Mandel Center and all of its constituents would like to wish Dr. Young much success as he pursues his career in nonprofit studies in Atlanta!
