Alumni Class Notes

The Mandel Center alumni are up to some exciting things and want to share them with you. Sheryl Aikman, MNO '95, was appointed to the Community Foundations Leadership Team at the Council on Foundations in 2004. She represents the Advancement Network, an association for philanthropic services professionals in the community foundations field.

Jeffrey M. Bowen, CFRE, MNO '98, celebrated three years as Executive Director of Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity on April 1st. He also recently completed training by the Fund Raising School at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. Jeffrey continues to serve on the Alumni Board of the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations. As the Outstanding Alumni for 2004, Jeffrey presented the 2005 award to Linda Serra at the Alumni Association's Annual Meeting in May. Jeffrey is a Director of Greater Cleveland Community Shares, and recently began serving his first term as a Trustee of Habitat for Humanity of Ohio.

Andrea Calo, MNO '04, received a new position as a grant writer for Coleman Professional Services in Kent, Ohio. The organization provides behavioral health services to over seven countries in Ohio. Andrea was married in June 2003 to Jeff Holub, who is a geologist working for an environmental company in Canal Fulton.

Christie Yonkers Chicotel, MNO '01, and her husband Dominick are happy to announce the birth of their first child. Their daughter, Lola Clementine, was born on April 15, 2005. Christie is enjoying leave from her job as Interim AVP of Outpatient and Community Education at Beech Brook.

G. Paul Cox, CNM '99, was appointed Association Director of Music at the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) in January. He is responsible for the programming of Western Music for the CMA.

Beth Norwood Fischer, CNM '02, married A-J Fischer in October 2002. She began a new job in February 2005 as the Director of Development for the Belk College of Business at UNCC.

Lisa Foster, MNO '02, recently changed jobs from the Cleveland Foodbank to the Grant Writer and Foundations Relations Coordinator at the Cleveland Zoological Society. Lisa is handling the grant funding and foundation work of the Zoo Society and enjoying her new job and working at the zoo.

Todd Hash, JD/CNM '04, began working in May as the Director of Public Policy for the Tennessee Disability Coalition in Nashville. This is a new position for the organization so it will be a learning experience for Todd and his co-workers. As Director of Public Policy, Todd will be responsible for lobbying the Tennessee legislature, media relations, organization and coalition building, research and writing on issues of interest, and website and publications development. Sheryl Hoffman, CNM '00, is Executive Director of Art House, which is a nonprofit art center that provides arts and cultural programming to people of all ages and skill levels. Sheryl was recently selected to attend the 2005 Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders - Arts, a professional-development program sponsored by National Arts Strategies and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business' Center for Social Innovation. The Cleveland Foundation nominated Ms. Hoffman and Cleveland arts leaders Deborah Crawford of Red (an orchestra) and Dorota Sobieska of Opera Circle for this year's program. The ENPL - Arts program accepts 50 people worldwide each year.

Christine Lucas, MNO '99, added another member to her family when Catherine Phoebe Lucas was born on June 20, 2004. Catherine joins older sister Virginia Elizabeth (AKA Ginger). Christine is continuing in her role as part-time Development Director at Leadership Florida and having a grand time when it's not hurricane season.

Amber (Pritchard) MacKenzie, MNO '99, recently took a new position as Assistant Vice President for Advancement at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan starting August 15, 2005. Her family will be living in Grand Rapids (formerly at Western Michigan University).

Irit Magidor-Elboher, MNO '01, started a new position as the Director of External Relations at the Ruppin Academic Center, which was founded in 1949 and is situated in Emek Hefer in Israel's Sharon region. Ruppin offers degrees in management, economics and social services, as well as engineering and technology and, most uniquely, degrees in marine science and marine environment. Irit's position entitles responsibility for fundraising, in Israel and abroad, development, event coordination, PR and more.

Kimberly Ann Moss, MNO '01, was hired in September 2004 as Manager of Recruiting and Employee & Organizational Development at the Center for Families and Children in Cleveland. Kimberly currently resides in Solon, Ohio.

Megan O'Bryan, MNO '95, was promoted to Executive Director of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center in October 2005. She and her husband had their first child, a baby girl named Dinah, on December 19, 2004. Dinah is already attending block club meetings and rape crisis functions and is a budding community activist.

Jessica Ollis, MNO '03, accepted a new position at Case as the Manager of Budgets and Finance for the Office of Campus Services. She is also serving on the Board of Trustees for Cleveland Chapter of IMA (Institute of Management Accountants).

Michelle (Boyle) Pearson, MNO '99, married Greg Pearson in St. Lucia on April 28, 2005.

Greg Peckham, MNO '99, was selected as Executive Director for Cleveland Public Art (http://www.clevelandpublicart.org) after a national search. To view the full press release, please click here.

Sue (Szucs) Rodway, MNO '00, and her husband, whom she married in September 2002, recently bought a home in South Euclid, Ohio. Sue has been working as the Development Director for Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity since September 2003.

Denise Rowell, MNO '98, received a promotion in January to Manager of Benefits and Wellness Administration in Case's Human Resources Department.

Linda Serra, MBA/CNM '96, received the 2005 Mandel Center Outstanding Alumni Award at the Alumni Association's Annual Meeting in May. Linda has served as the Center's Managing Editor for Nonprofit Management and Leadership journal and is also the Coordinator of Research Services for the Center. She has also worked for several years with the Mandel Center's Alumni Association. Linda left the Mandel Center this summer to pursue other interests in Atlanta.

J. William Tincup, CNM '99, principal of Jet Powered Group, was elected to the board of directors of Stage West. Stage West nurtures the artistic growth of area actors, directors, designers, playwrights and musicians. Their goal is always to broaden and intensify the theatrical experience for their patrons, with consistently excellent acting, directing, and plays. Mr. Tincup will head up Stage West's marking and public relations team.

Gina Verdi, MNO '05, is moving to San Diego to attend the University of California at San Diego this fall to begin her Master of Fine Arts in Stage Management. The UCSD Department of Theatre and Dance has a partnership with the La Jolla Playhouse.
