STUDENT CENTER
Mandel Center Welcomes its Fall 2004, Spring 2005 Entering Classes
The Mandel Center enthusiastically welcomes its Fall 2004 and Spring 2005 entering classes. This new group of students is comprised of a diverse population from different backgrounds and fields.
- This highly diverse group includes a physician, two lawyers, a graphic designer, a librarian, and an executive director, among others.
- Among these students new to the Mandel Center, 23 students are MNOs, one student is a JD/MNO, 17 are CNMs, five are MSSA/CNMs, three students are JD/CNMs, and three students are EDMs.
- Once again, we are welcoming international students to the Mandel Center. This year, the following students have joined the Center: Yoichiro Kawajiri from Japan (MNO), Sheila Magero from Uganda (MNO), and Americo Miguel from Zimbabwe (MSSA/CNM).
- This new class is comprised of 38 women and 14 men.
- More enrolled students than in previous years report being employed in the government and for-profit sectors prior to matriculation.
The Mandel Center holds many orientation and welcoming events for its new students, such as a dinner with faculty members, a reception at Gwinn Estate in Bratenahl, and a breakfast with Mr. Morton Mandel. New students, along with current students and alumni, receive invaluable networking opportunities at all of these events, as well as the chance to get to know each other in an enjoyable environment.
"I attended the dinner with faculty members on the first day of the orientation week for the Fall 2004 class," Yoichiro Kawajiri, MNO candidate, explains. "What really impressed me was how willing faculty members were to take care of newcomers and to get to know us. I really felt as though I became a member of the Mandel Center at the dinner."
"When I was considering the MNO program, I talked with a number of current students and alumni," explains Eric Dicken, MNO candidate. "Everyone emphasized the value of networking opportunities available through the program. The Gwinn Estate reception provided an excellent opportunity to meet students, alumni, and faculty in a casual atmosphere. Aside from the venue, what I enjoyed most about the reception was the interconnectedness of the attendees."
New students, as well as current students, should feel free to contact any of the Mandel Center staff with questions or concerns that may arise during their time in the program. The Mandel Center is pleased to welcome such an impressive group of students and wishes them great success as they pursue their studies in nonprofit management.
