On the Road with the Mandel Center: Dennis Young Offers Workshop in D.C.
The Mandel Center packed its bags for a workshop it sponsored in Washington, DC on May 20, 2004. This program featured a presentation by Dennis R. Young, Ph.D., who is Professor of Nonprofit Management and Professor of Economics at Case Western Reserve University, as well as Program Faculty Member at the Mandel Center. Professor Young's presentation was entitled "Nonprofit Revenue Streams: Finding the Right Mix." During his discussion, Professor Young spoke about reasons why nonprofits depend on several different sources of revenue to sustain themselves, the factors involved in determining the right revenue mix, and collaborative research that is being conducted around the theory of nonprofit finance.
The workshop was held at the offices of Independent Sector. Rebecca Zirm, Director of Recruitment, provided attendees with information on the Mandel Center's graduate programs. Current Master's of Nonprofit Organizations student, Lauren Mapes, assisted with registration and organization of the event.
The workshop/recruitment event, which was free and open to the public, was a success with over 40 attendees from the DC area. The Mandel Center's Washington alumni were instrumental in the planning and promotion of the event, and the Mandel Center is grateful to them for their time and energy. The Center plans to hold a number of similar events in other cities over the next year so stay tuned for more information.
