Note to CNM Graduates:
Graduates of CNM and MNO programs, along with their guests, are encouraged to attend the Mandel Center Graduation Celebration to celebrate their accomplishments. The event is held at the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. This is always a wonderful party where fellow graduating students, faculty and staff gather for great food and conversation. A brief program will begin at 2:00 p.m.
CNMs are also invited to watch the MNOs receive their diplomas at the MSASS Diploma Ceremony which follows the University Convocation. No tickets are required for the Diploma Ceremony.
Certificates will be mailed in late May to the forwarding address provided by the CNM student on his or her graduation application.

Announcements serve as a means of informing friends and relatives of your
achievement. Ten announcements are being provided for each graduate.
Graduates can also pick up a Commencement Resource Guide, which is a
booklet published by the university to provide information to guests and
graduates about commencement weekend.
Commencement Ceremonies Registration

You may pick up the two guest tickets that were reserved at the time
you registered for Commencement online. For August 2008 and January
2009 graduates, your tickets will be mailed on April 17th.
Grad Fair (cap and gown purchase):
University Bookstore, Thwing Center
You can purchase and pick up your cap and gown at the Case Western Reserve
University Grad Fair
at Thwing Student Center/University Bookstore from 10:00 a.m.
to 7:00 p.m. on March 25 and March 26.
MNOs should purchase the hood for social work (citron).
Clear Financial Account Required
Graduates must fulfill all financial obligations to the university by Monday, May 11, 2009. Diplomas will be withheld until financial obligations are met.

Convocation Robing And Line Up (MNO Graduates):
MSASS, 3rd Floor, 8:00 a.m.
MNO graduates are required to attend the morning University-wide Convocation.
Guests are not required to attend this session and may make their way to Veale Center, which opens at 8:00 a.m. for guest seating.
Appropriate Academic Attire
Graduates must wear Case Western Reserve University academic regalia (cap, gown, and hood) to participate in the procession and ceremonies.
No adornment of any kind is worn outside the robe or cap and no item (purse or backpack) may be carried. A small fanny pack worn under the gown around the waist is a good solution to carry such items as keys, comb, money, and personal identification. Graduates will walk from MSASS to Veale Center and Veale Center to Temple Tifereth, so they are advised to wear comfortable shoes and attire appropriate for the weather (including an umbrella if necessary).

University-Wide Convocation Ceremony
Veale Center, 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.
The Convocation Ceremony includes the presentation of honorary degrees, a commencement address, and the conferring of degrees by the President of the University. No diplomas are given out at this ceremony. If you plan to attend this event, you should have registered online.
Tickets are required for guests to attend this ceremony. Guests without tickets are welcome to view the ceremony via live broadcast in either Horsburgh Gym/Emerson Center, which is immediately adjacent to Veale Center, or via live webcast.
The Veale Center will open at 8:00 a.m. for guest seating; the academic procession will leave MSASS at approximately 8:40 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 10:45 a.m.

MSASS and Mandel Center Diploma Ceremony
The Temple Tifereth, 1855 Ansel Road, 12:00 p.m.
Tickets are not required to attend this ceremony. The Temple Tifereth will open for guest seating at 11:00 a.m. Guests may be seated in the Temple while graduates are rehearsing.
Graduates will be individually recognized and hooded at this ceremony. A professional photographer will take a picture of each graduate receiving his or her diploma from the Dean.
The diplomas for May graduates who have met all university financial obligations will be presented on stage at the MSASS Diploma Ceremony.

Mandel Center Graduation Celebration
Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, 11402 Bellflower Road, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
MNO, CNM, and EDM Nonprofit Fellows graduates, and their families and friends are invited to join the Mandel Center faculty and staff for a Graduation Celebration at the Mandel Center. Luncheon will be served. A brief program will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Diplomas
Graduates who are unable to attend the diploma ceremony will receive their diplomas via U.S. certified mail (to the address provided on their graduation application) following Commencement.
Certificates
Certificates (for CNM and JD/CNM graduates) will be mailed to the address provided by the graduate on his or her graduation application. MBA/CNM and MSSA/CNM graduates will receive their certificates with their diplomas.

Parking
Free parking is available all day beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, in all Case Western Reserve University parking lots. These lots will be clearly marked. Please note that University Hospital visitor lots do not offer free parking for commencement guests. Free parking off-campus also will be provided at The Temple, site of one diploma ceremony. Attendants will be available at all lots to assist and answer questions.
It is recommended that visitors park closest to the location of the event they will attend last and take the free shuttle buses throughout the day. Buses will stop at clearly marked locations.

Photographs and Videos
University Convocation
Flash photography is prohibited during Convocation. As a courtesy to all graduates, the University requests that parents and guests photograph graduates without interrupting the flow of the ceremony.
MSASS Diploma Ceremony
A professional photographer from Chappell Studios will take a picture of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. Graduates who have submitted a photo release form will receive a free proof of this photo in the mail along with information on how to purchase additional prints.
Since professional photographs will be available, family members and guests are encouraged to remain in their seats, relax and enjoy the ceremony. To insure the comfort and safety of everyone, it is requested that guests not block the aisles or sightlines of others during the ceremony.
Please note: the Photographer Release Form must be turned in to Edna Wade by Thursday, April 30th.

TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR COMMENCEMENT DAY
Cleveland Marathon
The Cleveland Rite Aid Marathon takes place on Commencement Day. The race route passes through University Circle on East Boulevard, close to the campus. Marathon participants are expected between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon. This will affect both parking and traffic routes on the morning of commencement:
- Martin Luther King. Jr. (MLK) Boulevard will be totally closed to vehicular traffic between the VA Hospital and the I-90/Route 2 Shoreway from 8:00 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m.
- East Boulevard will be totally closed to vehicular traffic between Ford Drive and the MLK traffic circle from 8:00 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m.
- East Boulevard between Euclid Avenue and Ford Drive will be restricted to one-way northbound traffic until 11:30 a.m.
- Chester Avenue will be restricted to eastbound traffic until 11:30 a.m.
If you are driving to Case from the east or west on I-90 the morning of Commencement, look for an electronic signboard (one for each direction) telling you to exit at East 55th for Case Commencement. At East 55th head south to Chester and then east to the Case campus. East Boulevard can be accessed only from Euclid Avenue until the race is over, around 11:30 a.m. Anyone heading from Ford Drive or Bellflower Road will need to turn right at East Boulevard.
