Case is in the process of having approximately 1260 Cisco wireless access points (AP's) installed across our network as part of our Integrated Technology Partnership with Sprint and Cisco, and will have all 1260 installed by the end of October, 2003. The wireless network will provide ubiquitous network coverage throughout CASE buildings and is hosted by the gigabit network. For a better idea of which buildings have wireless coverage see our Coverage Map.

ITS Releases Wireless CaseChalk
Warchalking is the practice of marking a series of symbols on sidewalks and walls to indicate nearby wireless access. It was inspired by the practice of hobos during the Great Depression to use chalk marks to indicate which homes were friendly. All over Case this fall you will see hundreds of Case's own warchalk known as CaseChalk. Steven Organiscak, Project Manager of the Wireless Case project released the decal last week. "Over 1200 wireless access points are connected all over the University. We have focused on student hang outs, residence halls, food places and the like." Don Kamalsky, assistant vice president for student affairs and director of housing shares that "even the new Silver Spartan Diner has wireless access. It's totally cool. Last year students wanted more access. This year every Greek House, every residence hall has wireless access." Accessing the network with wireless is as easy as powering up your notebook, logging on to VPN (vpnsetup.case.edu) and away you go.
