Improving Voice Quality

If you hear "choppy" or "cut off" voices, or someone you talk with sounds "underwater" or "like Darth Vader", there is a simple way to change the voice quality setting on any IP phone. It could be your IP phone - it could be the IP phone of the person you are talking with. Here is how you do it.

Verify Duplex Setting on Your IP Phone

Press the SETTINGS key on the IP phone
Press the number 3
Press 3 and then 9

It should say "39 SW Port Configuration - 10FULL"

If it says "39 SW Port Configuration - AUTO", then you need to follow these steps.

Changing Duplex Setting on Your IP Phone

1. Make sure the phone is hung up - you are not talking on the phone.
2. Press SETTINGS
3. Press 3
4. Press 3 and then 9
5. Make sure the line marked 39 is highlighted on your phone
6. Press * * # (star, star, pound)
7. Press Edit
8. Press the number 1 one time until a 1 appears in the screen
9. Press the number 0 (zero) four times until a 0 appears next to the 1
10. Press the number 3 three times until the letter f appears next to 10
11. Make sure it says 10f on your screen
12. Press Validate
13. Press Save

When the configuring stops, pick up the handset as if you are going to make a call.
Hang up the handset.
You have just changed your phone from AUTO to 10FULL
To make sure the change was made, press SETTINGS, 3, and 39.
It should say "39 SW Port configuration - 10FULL"
