Wherever practical, each FAX machine should be connected to a VoIP-system analog voice line. In a building where VoIP is not available, use a Centrex analog line.
FAX machines may also be connected via an Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) - a modem-like device that provides an analog phone line through its connection to the VoIP data network. FAX connection via ATA is also supported only if
the FAX limits its transmission speeds to no more than 9600 bps.. Refer to your FAX user manual for how to configure your FAX for a maximum transmission and reception speed of no more than 9600 bps. E.g. in a
Cannon's "System Setting" menu, set the "TX START SPEED" and "RX START SPEED" to 9600 bps. If your ATA-connected FAX does not support limiting the maximum speed, arrange to move the FAX to a VoIP-system analog voice line. Otherwise you may experience intermittent transmission problems.
Refer to here if you have an ATA daisy-chained to a Cisco 7900 series phone.
