Scopia is a desktop videoconference client that enables individuals with a webcam to participate in virtual meeting rooms from their Macintosh or Windows computer. Scopia is available from CWRU to faculty and staff only, and can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Videoconference Services sets up user accounts and meeting rooms. More information about the product can be found at the Scopia e-commerce site.
Scopia uses H.323 technology and can easily connect with other Scopia users and other forms of H.323 videoconferencing technology, including Lifesize units, Polycom units, Scopia Room units and Cisco Tandberg sites. The dialing numbers for these units are IP addresses, e.g., 126.96.36.199.
To communicate with a Cisco TelePresence (CTS) endpoint, the Scopia user and other participating endpoints must be able to dial a special bridge number that can be reached by both TelePresence and IP numbers (e.g., 188.8.131.52 and 1.216.754.2102). Please fill out the Videoconference Request Form for assistance in coordinating a connection.
