CWRU is the first institution of higher education in the Midwest to have its own videoconferencing infrastructure, called the TelePresence Exchange (TPX). Having a TPX means that CWRU can create and host its own videoconferences instead of contracting with a vendor that specializes in that service. Using the TPX for videoconference calls also reduces the need to engage in travel. In addition, the infrastructure gives ITS the ability to create videoconference calls between technologies that can’t otherwise interoperate, and to host up to 16 videoconference sites in one call!
