Important Information for Students who are living in Campus Residence Halls:
If you would like to use the Unified Messaging system with your residence hall phone number, you first need to create a voice mailbox. Please follow this link:
https://its-services.case.edu/UnifiedMessaging/Voicemail/index.cgi
to create a mailbox. Once the mailbox is created, you should return to this page for information on setting up your mailbox.
Note: Please make sure your phone number in the campus directory matches the phone number that you are requesting Unified Messaging account for. Please contact the Office of University Housing to correct your information, if necessary.

Creating an Unified Messaging account:

You must create an unified messaging account in order to access it for the first time.
If you are a faculty, or staff, please fill out the TSO online form or call the Help Desk at 368-HELP.
If you are a student who is living on campus residence halls (including University Apartment housing on E. 115th St.), please follow the instructions above. |
How to access your voicemail mailbox from a telephone: |

How to set up your mailbox for the first time using the telephone |
- Dial the access number (see above) from your OWN phone.
- If you share a mailbox with others, select your name by pressing the number 1, 2, 3, etc. after your name.
- Enter the default passcode – 12345 followed by the # key
- If this is the first time you have called from your telephone, you will be led through a brief New User Tutorial where you will change your passcode, record your name, and record your personal greeting.
- When you change your passcode, think of a five-digit (minimum) number that is easy to remember. You will be asked to enter this number twice for verification.
- Please listen carefully to the instructions.

How to listen to messages from a telephone |
- See instructions for accessing your voice mailbox (see above)
- Enter your passcode (minimum of five digits) followed by the # key
- You will hear how many voice and email messages are in your Inbox.
- To listen to new voicemail messages, press 1, 1
- To listen to saved voicemail messages, press 1, 2
- To go back one menu, press the * key
Telephone commands while listening to the messages
- Press 1 to save the message
- Press 3 to skip to the next message
- Press 4 to replay the message from the beginning
- Press 5 to rewind the message by 6 seconds
- Press 6 to fast forward the message by 6 seconds
- Press 7 to delete the message and go to the next message
- Press 8 to decrease the volume
- Press 9 to increase the volume
Telephone commands after listening to messages
- Press 1 to save the message
- Press 2 to forward the message to another mailbox
- Press 4 to replay the message
- Press 5 to reply to the message – you will be given the choice of calling them back or recording a message
- Press 7 to delete a message
- Press 8 to get the time and date of the message

How to listen to messages on your computer |
- Open your Inbox either, through an email client (like Outlook or Eudora) or through Case WebMail at http://mail.case.edu
- In your Inbox,the email message subject line will show the telephone number or name or the person who called and the length of message in seconds
- Double click the .wav file attachment
- You must have an audio player (such as Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or Real Player) and speakers to hear the message
NOTE: Your voicemail messages are stored in two folders – your Inbox and in a new IMAP folder called UM-Messages. These two folders allow you to download messages to your computer and still have a copy in the IMAP folder so that you can listen to the message through your telephone. For more information, see the FAQs on this web site.
- When you delete messages from your telephone, it will NOT delete the message in your Inbox. Similarly, when you delete messages from your Inbox, it does not delete the message from the phone.

Changing your passcode or personal greeting

After you have set up your mailbox, if you need to change your passcode, simply access your mailbox, and press 5, 5, 3 and follow instructions.
To change your personal greeting, access your mailbox and press 5, 4, and follow instructions. |
