UNIFIED MESSAGING

What's different? What's the same?

Unified Messaging compared with old voicemail system

What’s different?

You can now listen to your voicemail messages either on your phone or on your computer. To listen to the messages on the computer, you open the .wav file attachments in the email. The message will play through your computer speaker.

Voicemail messages are saved in both your Inbox and in a new IMAP folder called UM-Messages.  For more information about how this affects your Inbox, see FAQ # 2. (link)

You need to delete your messages in two places – once on your phone and again in your Inbox.

Listening to messages in your Inbox will not turn off your Message Waiting Light.  Only if you listen to the message on the telephone will the light go off.

What’s the same?

You can listen to your voicemail messages on your telephone

VoIP IP phone users can press the Messages key to get to the new UM system.

VoIP analog phone user can dial * 0 (star zero) to get to the new UM system.

You still have remote access to listen to messages.

Your message waiting light will still turn on when a new message comes into your mailbox.  When you listen to the message on the phone, the light will go off.
