How to move to the new Unified Messaging Voicemail System

All Case faculty, staff, and students who use the old voicemail system need to move to the new Unified Messaging system by the end of January, 2007.  The old voicemail system will be removed from service at that time.

If you dial 368-1222 for messages, you are still on the old voicemail system. Please follow the steps below.

If you are greeted by "Welcome to Communite..." when checking your messages, you are on the new Unified Messaging system.

Here are the steps to move from the old voicemail system to the new one.

Step 1:  Read through the Unified Messaging web site at http://www.case.edu/its/unifiedmessaging so you are familiar with the new service.

Step 2:  Click on this link and follow the instructions below to request a new mailbox: http://htmldb.case.edu/htmldbp/f?p=127:28

Note: You will be required to sign in with your Case User ID and password.

Fill out the Telephone Service Office Change Request form with this information:

  7. Case User ID – your assigned network ID (e.g. abc123).
  8. Activate Voicemail - Select YES from the pull-down menu.
  9. Click on the Save button.
  10. If you have more than one telephone number with voicemail, click on the Save & Create Another button.
  11. Review Your Order: You will have a chance to review your order.   Please make any comments in the boxes provided.  PLEASE NOTE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION IF YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A UNIFIED MESSAGING MAILBOX ON ANOTHER TELEPHONE NUMBER THAT YOU NEED DELETED or ADDED TO THE  TELEPHONE NUMBER IN THIS ORDER.
  12. Press PROCESS ORDER at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Within a day or two, you will receive an email confirming that your mailbox has been created. The instructions to set up your mailbox are at this link:

http://www.case.edu/its/unifiedmessaging/UM_UserGuide.pdf

You will be given one week to set up your mailbox.  After one week, the forwarding will be changed on your phone so callers will reach your new mailbox.
