Your CWRU network ID, also referred to as “username” or “login,” is generated when you are hired. Your network ID is used to access restricted online resources, such as WebMail, the Student Information System, eStore, Software Center and Launchpad portal.

Password Requirements
You are responsible for all actions taken with your network ID and password. It is not to be shared. You will create your CWRU password during your network ID activation and is recommended to be reset every 180 days (once per semester). Passwords expire after 365 days. You will receive email notifications prior to your password’s expiration date. The following password complexity requirements are mandatory for all CWRU accounts::

1. Must contain eight or more characters
2. Must include at least three of the following:
• Uppercase letters
• Lowercase letters
• Numerals
• Punctuation

When using common dictionary words, no more than four consecutive letters can be used.

Helpful Hints:
Choose a common dictionary word and mix in the above-mentioned components to garble the word.

For instance, use an eight-letter word mixed with upper case, lower case and numbers: Example: snoozing - Sn00z1ng

Use the first letter of a phrase. Mix punctuation with upper-case letters and numbers. Remember, it must be eight or more characters. Example: Will you please help me set my first password - WYPHMSM1P!
