Database Hosting and Administration

The Division of Information Technology Services (ITS) at Case provides Oracle database hosting and administration services for researchers on centrally supported clustered servers. At present, the servers are two Sun V880 servers, each with 32 gigabytes of memory and 8 processors, running the Solaris operating system. Protection against hardware failure is provided by Veritas clustering technology with the Oracle High Availability option. The standard agreement provides each subscriber with web access to an Oracle database via the Oracle Application Express (formerly known as "HTML DB") service at a cost of $25 per month for two gigabytes of storage following a $250 initial setup fee. These basic services can be adjusted according to the needs of the individual researcher. Database administration services for Oracle Application Express databases can be obtained from ITS. ITS can help researchers locate database administration services for other database management systems such as MySQL. Please contact roger.bielefeld@case.edu for more information.
