About MediaVision

The MediaVision team is responsible for providing traditional audio-visual services; technology enhanced classrooms as well as a set of “video-centric” technologies that are designed to take advantage of the university’s world-class, gigabit-to-the-desktop network. These “cutting-edge” services will include videoconferencing, streaming media and an interactive digital television system that will provide content distribution to all areas of the university. From traditional audio visual support to advanced new media technologies, MediaVision is committed to making a positive contribution towards the university’s vision of becoming the world’s most powerful learning environment.

 

Audio-Visual Services

The AV Services team provides an array of classroom and media related services. Chances are if you have a class, meeting or special event on the Case campus, you will need one of the services provides by AV Services. (more…)

 

Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TEC)

MediaVision has been charged with the task of equipping classrooms on campus with state-of-the-art, media presentation systems. The goal of this project is to equip all 100+ university general classrooms with the following equipment (baseline configuration): Projection Screen; Video Projection System; Sound System (Speech reinforcement if needed); Control System; Laptop Computer/PDA (A/V/Net Interface); Media Sources (VCR, DVD, Document Camera); Local Computer(s); Equipment storage & presentation furniture; Telephone link for user support. We have also developed a tier of technology which turns the classroom into a production studio and videoconferencing facility. (more…)

 

Case.TV

MediaVision has developed a comprehensive suite of production services that are designed to capture, edit, encode, store, index, catalog, manage and distribute streaming audio, video and other rich media content to both on and off campus locations. The goal is to enhance to the educational experience by providing learners with the ability to query a web-based media archive that is searchable, non-linear, on demand and supports the individual needs of the students.

 

Videoconferencing

The bigIP bigVideoconferencing initiative is an advanced, campus wide videoconferencing architecture that will provide the ability to videoconference from classrooms, conference rooms and desktops to locations both on campus and off-campus. Users will be able to easily initiate and/or participate in videoconferences, web conferences, and conferences using ISDN (H.320), IP (H.323) and SIP industry standards. These services provide users the ability to participate in point-to-point and multipoint, data and video conferencing on an ad hoc and scheduled basis between and amongst administration, faculty, staff, students and other partner organizations. Courseware

MediaVision Courseware is an advanced research project produced by Instructional Technology and Academic Computing (ITAC), a division of Information Technology Services at Case Western Reserve University . Working with large, lecture-style undergraduate courses, MediaVision is enhancing existing teaching methods with new multimedia learning content. (more...)
