Blackboard Instructor InformationInstructors and students have access to a number of communication tools. Several of these are automatically activated and are available from each person's My Blackboard page: Tasks, Announcements, Calendar, and Send E-mail. They are each covered in detail in their own sections of this documentation. Return to the start of the Communication Tools section. There are also tools associated with each class you teach: Send E-mail, Digital Drop Box, Class Tasks and Calendar, Virtual Classroom/Chat, and Discussion Groups. To make your selections, view the administrative tools located in the Course Options portion of the Control Panel found under Manage Tools then under Tool Availablility. Note: because each course has its own Control Panel, you must make any communication specifications for each course separately.
Instructor's SettingsIn Tool Availability you can enable or disable many of the course tools including the communication tools. Simply select or deselect the check box under "Enabled." You can also set Observer and Guest access in similar fashion as long as that tool can actually be viewed by users not enrolled in the course. Finally, click Submit at the bottom of the page.
Course AreasYou can add and remove various areas within your course by selecting Manage Course Menu under Course Options. You can also modify these contents areas by selecting the "Modify" button as shown below for Communication Areas and Tools. Communication AreasYou can enable or disable the communication tools to which your students will have access.
Check the Groups Setup Page section for more details on creating groups. ToolsBy going to the Control Panel and selecting Manage Tools, you can "Enable" or "Disable" the tools available for your students to use:
