Mission
The Server and Storage Engineering group within Technical Infrastructure Services of ITS
is responsible for centralized servers, centralized disk storage, and network backup systems.
Our centralized servers currently consist of a variety of Unix servers, Windows servers,
and Novell Netware servers.
We have designed a new high-availability server and storage architecture based on
the latest server load-balancing, server clustering, and storage virtualization technologies.
Our objective is to transform our server and storage services by migrating mission-critical services
to this new architecture in order to improve
the reliability of our services, reduce the number of different platforms we support, optimize
the number of servers needed to support the services we offer, and reduce the amount of time
needed to implement new services.
