Rich Media and Participatory Culture - The Experience of YouTube and iTunes in Higher Education

Description:

A growing number of institutions are adopting popular distributed media platforms such as YouTube and iTunes U to extend the reach of their campus. These platforms extend the viewership of content from a local audience of thousands to a global audience of millions. The panel will discuss the differences and similarities of these platforms and ways in which they have been deployed in higher education.

New Frontiers in Video-Based Collaboration: Adobe Connect and Lifesize

Description:

This session will feature two state-of-the-art networked video collaboration tools: LifeSize High-Definition videoconferencing and Adobe Connect web-conferencing. The panel will discuss the fundamental differences between videoconferencing and web-conferencing and the effective application of each.

Towards a Unified Communications Environment Leveraging VOIP and WebEx - The Cisco Story

Virtual Office Hours - increase advising efforts to better hand hold students through to graduation; provide flexibility to off campus staff/faculty.

Parent to Parent Sessions - parents want more information and more access, with the click of a button open a web, audio, video session up to them to provide feedback and interaction between them.

IT Support & Helpdesk - decrease time to resolution to enhance the students support experience and increasing IT Client satisfaction.

International Education Programs - leverage the global backbone to access resources and students for global education programs using the Cisco WebEx Network.

Research Collaboration - increase collaboration between dispersed research groups and develop relationships with organizations that provide grants.
