Travel Information
If you are travelling from the BRAIN '09 (CHICAGO) MEETING, there is an inexpensive bus service option called the MegaBus running on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only, which happens to fall on July 3, 4, & 5, and therefore, fits our satellite and ISOTT programs well.

Shuttle Service from Cleveland Hopkins Airport
If you wish to take a shuttle from Cleveland Hopkins Airport to the University rather than a taxi, you may reserve a shuttle spot before you come to Cleveland, and information about shuttles and limousines can be found at Cleveland Hopkins Ground Transportation page.
Hopkins Limousine service will be providing transportation during the meeting to some of our planned events, and you can visit their secure website HERE to make your reservation ahead of time. Rapid Transit Authority (RTA)
It is also possible to take the RTA light rail public transit system from the airport to the University Circle station on the Red Line. The RTA fare is only $2. After collecting your baggage in the baggage claim area, take the escalator down from the center of baggage claim, and the entrance to the airport RTA station will be to your left as you get off the escalator. On Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, from 9 AM to 3 PM ONLY, the ISOTT conference will operate a shuttle service from the RTA University Circle station to the ISOTT registration location.
The number to call (from the airport before you leave) for this shuttle service is 1-216-402-4562 or 216-409-4537. Please allow at least 45 minutes for the RTA trip from the airport to the University Circle station. Do not get off at the stop after Terminal Tower (labeled "Campus"); this is for Cleveland State University, which is located several miles away from CWRU. For your safety, we suggest you do not take the RTA after 5:00 pm. If you arrive in the evening, you should use a taxi or a shuttle, not the RTA. Have them drive you directly to the registration site (Wade Commons), or the lecture site (Schmitt Lecture Hall) if you are trying to attend the Sunday, July 5 afternoon lectures. Driving Directions
For an overview of transportation options to Case Western Reserve University to and from the airport, please read the "Visiting Case" page, located here.
The garage next to the conference housing (S-46) has a weekly pass that costs $16, if reserved and guaranteed in advance. The cost will be $10 per day if purchased after arrival. There are two parking garages closer to the site of the lectures: one at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, across and down the street from 2080 Adelbert Road (Hovorka Atrium/ Schmitt Lecture Hall), and lot S-53 at the intersection of Adelbert Road and Circle Drive. These locations cost approximately $2 per hour or $10 a day.
The walk from the housing to the lectures should take 15 minutes across the campus. You may use the free campus shuttles that are provided by Case and by University Circle, but these may not closely follow the conference time schedule. More information about these shuttles can be found here.
Case Western Reserve University is an urban campus. During the day, it is perfectly safe to walk anywhere in the immediate vicinity of the campus shown on the map posted on the website at http://www.case.edu/visit/map/dir.html. After regular business hours, however, please use good judgment. If you need an escort to go from one place to another, are in need of police, or for any other reason need to reach Security, call (216) 368-3333. Late ArrivalsBetween 8 AM and 9 PM for general conference questions, you may call either (216) 402-4562 or 216-409-4537. These are not emergency numbers or the housing accommodation numbers. Outside of those hours you must call 216-650-8947. This number is to be called for all late arrivals to the housing. Call that number from the airport if you are arriving late, as there are no public telephones outside the housing office. You are requested to send an e-mail to isott09@case.edu with “Late Arrival Time” in the subject line. Provide information as to the date and time your flight will arrive. We will then forward this to the housing office so they can anticipate your late arrival. You are responsible for your transportation from the airport to the campus. Use a taxi at night, not the RTA.
**If you are arriving late and do not have a cellular phone, or do not call from the airport, you may contact the after hours housing number through the blue emergency phone boxes on campus. First press the black “Call” button to obtain a dial tone, and then press “3333” to connect to the dispatch center. You do not need any other digits, and the phone will accept only four digits. This will send a campus police officer to assist you.
There will also be a mini-van labeled “Safe Ride” which patrols the campus and is available from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am. Our campus security offices have been notified to expect that people may arrive to ISOTT at very late hours due to overseas flights. They want you to use the police call boxes to ensure your safety. Banking and Exchange FacilitiesTicketed airport passengers can exchange currency at either of the Airport Foreign Currency Exchange counters, the first of which is located near Concourse C on the way to Continental Airlines. The daily hours of operation are from 6:00 am to 8:30 pm (EST) every day except Saturday when they close at 7:00 pm. The other one is located near Carousel #9 in the Baggage Claim area and is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm 7 days a week. The Airport Foreign Currency Exchange can be reached by calling either 1-216-265-3309 or 1-216-265-3311. They accept cash, VISA and MasterCard only (no American Express). Also, ATM bank machines are conveniently located on campus for your convenience. |
