Athletes who Achieve
As part of its commitment to undergraduate education and student life, Case Western Reserve University offers high-quality athletic programs to every student. Through competition, students learn essential skills that will serve them throughout their entire lives: sportsmanship, team building, goal setting, time management, leadership development, and how to have fun.
Gifts to the Athletic Annual Fund support enhancements to programs, facilities, and special opportunities that arise throughout the year.
Case Western Reserve offers 19 varsity sports, in which over 500 students participate annually. Hundreds more are involved in club sports, intramurals, and physical education courses. Together, these programs provide challenging, healthy opportunities to compete, stay in shape, and manage stress.
All students, faculty and staff have access to athletic facilities for health/wellness and recreation purposes. In addition, athletic facilities are utilized for major events of the university and our partners in the community. Annual gifts support facilities improvements and equipment replacement necessitated by wear and tear.
Being able to take advantage of special opportunities and deal with special needs like an unanticipated varsity team travel expense is very important to providing necessary programs for our campus community and staying competitive with peer universities.
How does your participation make an impact?
- Students use the athletic facilities 33,000 hours per year for sports and recreation .
- Fully 100 percent of undergraduates enroll in physical education courses required for graduation.
- Nearly 70 percent of undergraduates participate on 528 intramural teams.
