Meal Plan Exemption Procedures:
Case’s dining service provider is required to provide quality and flexibility in the University’s dining service program. Only those students who can document severe medical reasons why the dining service contractor cannot supply dietary needs will be considered for exemption from the meal plan.
- Students seeking release who are required to have a meal plan should submit the following items with their release request:
- A signed letter dated within the last six months from your physician/specialist is required on his/her letterhead.
- A nutritional plan including:
- A brief introductory paragraph explaining your circumstances (optional).
- a 7-day menu outline
- Identification of purchasing sources
- Special preparation instructions
- Where food will be prepared
- All requests requiring individual consideration will be forwarded to the Meal Plan Exemption Committee.
- Please note that a request for exemption does not guarantee that you will be excused from the meal plan.
- Exemptions are not automatically renewed from academic year to academic year. If you do not reapply, your meal plan will be reactivated.
Until a decision is reached on your meal plan exemption request you should continue to use your meal plan. Choosing never to use your current meal plan will not exempt you from any meal plan charges for the semester you apply for your meal plan exemption if your exemption request is denied
Cancellation of Meal Plan:
Students who are not required to have a meal plan are able to to cancel their meal plan up until the end of the Drop/Add period. This includes those upper classmen who are living in the University Apartments located within the NRV. A completed Meal Plan Cancellation form is all that is required. As long as the student remains a non-mandatory student who does not re-sign a Residential Meal Plan and/or housing contract, he/she need not reapply for release from the meal plan. If the plan has not been used during this two week period, no charge will be assessed.
If the meal plan has been used, a charge for the amount of time that you spent on the meal plan will be calculated at $14.50 per day plus all Case Cash that has been spent. This will be calculated by the date that Auxiliary Services is notified by the student of a change.
You must notify Auxiliary Services in person by coming to Crawford Rm 215 and filling out the Meal Plan Cancellation form. You will receive a confirmation that the change has occurred, and if you do not you should assume that the change has not occurred. Any questions about this process can be forwarded to Auxiliary Services either through the above email or you can call 216-368-5844.
