SECURITY ALERT

The following incident did not occur on campus and the victim was not affiliated with CWRU, but because of the proximity, CWRU Protective Services would like the campus community to be aware of the incident.

THE FOLLOWING INCIDENT OCCURRED: at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 29

TYPE OF INCIDENT: Robbery

LOCATION OF INCIDENT: Driveway between 2027 E. 115th St. and 2021 E. 115th St.


HOW INCIDENT OCCURRED: A University Hospitals employee was in the driveway across from Garage 61 (2045 Circle Drive) when she was approached by a male who asked for her purse. When the woman refused, the male grabbed her purse, causing her to fall to the ground. The woman started to scream for assistance from passers-by, and the male let go of her purse and fled.

DESCRIPTION OF SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a black male, 40 years old, 6-feet tall, medium build with a “scraggly” beard and mustache and a close-cropped hair-style. He was wearing a lime green zipped jacket with a hood and navy blue pants.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The suspect entered the passenger side of a 1980s blue Chevrolet Corsica that was parked on East 115th Street by Mayfield Road and was driven by an unknown person. Paint on the vehicle was peeling and possibly a temporary tag was in the rear window.

The UH employee sustained minor abrasions to her leg but did not require medical attention.
