SECURITY ALERT
Type of Incident: Aggravated Robberies
Location of Incident: Sidewalk between Fribley Commons and Murray Hill Road.
Date(s)/Time(s) of Incidents: Sunday morning, October 2nd 2005 at 1:26am.
Incident Description: Three students were robbed while walking along the sidewalk east of Fribley Commons, along Murray Hill Road. The suspect parked his vehicle on Murray Hill Road and approached two of the victims from behind. He produced a handgun and demanded their belongings. The students complied by handing their belongings to the suspect. Another student approached the scene, and the suspect robbed him of his belongings also. The suspect then fled to his vehicle and traveled east on Murray Hill. University Circle Police spotted the suspect's vehicle a short time later and pursued it into East Cleveland. The suspect was apprehended by University Circle Police and East Cleveland Police.
Description of Suspect(s): The suspect is described as a black male, 19 years old, 5' 10", 160 lbs, wearing a dark colored shirt, blue jeans and a white skullcap.
Additional Information: The students were not injured during the robbery. The suspect will be prosecuted.
Additional Crimes: Two additional, but apparently unrelated, robberies occurred in the area of Wade Park Ave. and East 105th street this past weekend. This area is off the campus and out of the University Circle area however, because the victims were students, this information is being distributed. One student was confronted and robbed at 3:11am Saturday morning and the other was confronted and robbed at 2:49am Sunday morning, both along Wade Park Ave. No suspect information is available. The Cleveland Police are investigating these crimes.
* Protective Services cautions students to avoid walking in areas off the campus and outside of the Case Protective Services and University Circle Police patrol areas, especially late at night. If you are a victim or witness to a crime, report it immediately to Case Protective Services on campus or to the local police if you are off campus. Prompt action by the victims and witnesses enabled the apprehension the above suspect!

-To report a crime, suspicious activity or any emergency, please immediately contact the Protective Services Dispatch Center , 24 hours a day, at 368-3333 . Dispatchers will direct the appropriate University and City responders for the situation.
- Protective Services and University Circle Police patrol the campus continually in patrol vehicles, utility vehicles, bicycles, and on foot.
- Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and locations immediately adjacent to campus. Request an escort 24 hours a day by calling 368-3333 or by using an emergency phone, located throughout the campus.
- Protect yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/ or the escort service rather than walking alone. Jog or bike during daylight only in areas you are familiar with and stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp# if you live on campus. Let a responsible person know where you are going, when you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of your normal routine. Trust your gut feelings and avoid persons and situations that make you feel uncomfortable.
- Protect your belongings by locking your office/room door every time you leave, don't leave purses, book bags, laptops and other valuables unattended. Keep valuables out of site in your car. Don't allow tailgaters to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Protective Services.
