Incident Description:
A student of the Cleveland Institute of
Music reported that at approximately 3:00AM he was awakened by an unknown
suspect inside his apartment. The
suspect was startled by the student and fled the apartment without incident. No property was taken.
An investigation by Case Police revealed that an unknown suspect shattered the main entrance door window of 1728 East 116th allowing them access to the interior. The suspect accessed a common basement area leading into 1720 East 116th. He/She discovered an unlocked apartment door in the top floor. The suspect entered and was confronted by the student. Due to the time of night and lighting conditions, no suspect description was available.

immediately adjacent to campus. Request

- Protect yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/ or the escort service rather than walking
alone. Jog or bike during daylight only
in areas you are familiar with and stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp# if you live on campus. Let a responsible person know where you are
going, when you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone
outside of your normal routine. Trust
your “gut” feelings and avoid persons and situations that make you feel
uncomfortable.
- Protect your belongings by locking your office/room
door every time you leave, don’t leave purses, book bags, laptops and other
valuables unattended. Keep valuables out
of site in your car. Don’t allow “tailgaters” to enter secured doors behind
you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Campus Police.
