Case Western Reserve University Police and Security Services

Location of Incident: Euclid Avenue and East 115th Street
 
Date of Incident: January 11, 2009
 
Time of Incident: 11:10 p.m.

 
Incident Description: While walking east on Euclid Avenue a student was struck in the ear with a closed hand by an unidentified female walking west on Euclid.
 
Suspect Description: The suspect is described as a black female in her mid-30s, approximately 5’8” tall, 160 pounds, wearing a brown coat, dark shirt, gold earrings and a winter scarf.
 
Additional Information: The student was not seriously injured. No weapons were seen or mentioned.  The incident was reported directly to the University Circle Police Department (UCPD).  The area was patrolled by UCPD and Case Western Reserve's Police Department, but the suspect was not found.

Case Western Reserve Police and Security officers and University Circle Police patrol the campus continually in patrol vehicles, utility vehicles, bicycles and on foot. 

Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and in areas immediately adjacent to campus. Request an escort anytime, 24 hours a day, by calling 368-3333 or by using emergency phones located throughout campus.

Rather than walking alone, protect yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/  or the escort service. Jog or bike during daylight and only in areas with which you are familiar. Stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp# if you live on campus. Let a responsible person know where you are going, when you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of your normal routine. Trust your gut feelings and avoid persons and situations that make you feel uncomfortable.

Protect your belongings by locking your office or room door every time you leave. Dont leave purses, book bags, laptops and other valuables unattended, and keep valuables out of site in your car. Dont allow tailgaters to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Case Police at 368-3333.
