Additional Information: Two of the bikes were left unsecured in interior bike rooms. Five of the bikes were secured with cables or chains and one is not known how it was secured. We have seen that cables and chain locks are easily defeated. Bikes should be locked even when they are in residence hall bike rooms.  While nothing is 100% guaranteed, the Crime Prevention office recommends using a lock made of case-hardened steel. There are several brands and shapes available at most sporting good stores, bike shops or on-line. The Crime Prevention office has “The Bike Club” available for rent. For more information call 368-6811.

Please be aware of suspicious persons loitering in the vicinity of a bike rack, someone carrying a bike, two persons on a single bike, or anyone carrying tools such as bolt cutters or screw drivers.  In Residence Halls, do not let anyone in to the building who does not live there and who does not have a Case ID.

If you see suspicious activity, don’t approach the person(s), but call Police & Security Services dispatch at 368-3333 immediately.
