The Mail Center is responsible for campus, U.S. & International Mail services. The on-line Mail Guide provides useful information on types of mail services and properly handling of the mail. This on-line manual has been prepared as a source of basic information to enable the University Community to obtain the best available mail services with regard to efficiency and economics. It briefly touches on topics such as campus mail, mail preparation, envelopes, specialized delivery services, and other information basic to your daily needs. |

POSTAGE RATE INCREASE
Beginning May 14, 2007, the United States Postal Service will implement new postage rates. The expected postage increase is very different from past postal increases as the rates vary according to the shape and size of the mail piece.
In the past, the U.S.P.S. charged the same rate for items of identical weights regardless of the shape and size of the items. When the U.S.P.S. processed these items, packages/parcels required more handling than large envelopes/flats (min. 11-1/2" x 6-1/8" max. 15" x 12") and large envelopes required more handling than letter size envelopes (min. 5" x 3-1/2" max. 11-1/2" x 6-1/8"). Therefore, U.S.P.S. applied for and received a rate change to cover the expenses of processing the different types of mail pieces.
