Frequently Asked Questions
I'm not a music major; will the conference go over my head?
Music fans of all backgrounds will be able to understand and enjoy the conference. Participants cover a range of topics. Some tell stories about what it was like to work, play and socialize with the honoree while others discuss the honoree's music and cultural impact.
At the end of the day attendees walk away with new insights regarding not only the musician and his legacy but also the life and times in which he performed. Overall the conference offers a rare glimpse into the life of the honoree through the eyes of those who knew him personally and through the research of who studied his music.
What will be served for lunch?
Typically the lunch menu is reflective of the region in which the honoree was raised. Past events celebrating honorees from the south have included comfort foods ranging from barbecue to fried chicken.
I would like to attend the conference but I am unable to stay for the whole day. Is that a problem?
If you have to leave early, simply try to leave during one of the breaks between sessions so as to not disturb the other attendees.
I'm coming to the conference from out of town. Could you give me more detailed directions?
Detailed directions to campus—for those arriving by air, bus, car or train—are available at http://www.case.edu/visit/map/dir.html.
I'm attending the concert Saturday night. How do I get to the State Theater from Case?
The State Theater is located 4 miles west of Ford Auditorium on Euclid Avenue. Due to construction on Euclid and the location of the Playhouse Square parking garage, we recommend that you take Chester instead of Euclid. When leaving the parking garage on Circle Drive, turn left, then right onto Cornell, then left onto Euclid Avenue. Turn right again onto Chester and stay in one of the left lanes. Take Chester west to E. 15th street and turn left. You will see the parking garage on your right. An indoor walkway connects the garage to the theaters.View map.
I work for Case, can I still win the guitar?
All Case faculty and staff, except those whose departments are directly involved in planning and producing the conference, are eligible for the guitar raffle.
