»Insight on Diversity: Promoting Inclusive Thinking, Learning and Dialogue
Welcome to the new Web site of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. As the inaugural Vice President for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity, I am delighted to welcome you. At Case Western Reserve University, diversity is a core value, not only of the University strategic plan, but also of all that we do. As a result, we are engaged in an ongoing process of creating a welcoming climate for all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community friends of the University. We welcome diversity of race, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, national and international background, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression and political affiliation, and we encourage interaction and inclusion as a best practice.
Our goal is to create a welcoming campus climate; opportunities for acknowledgement, professional development and recognition; and the kind of mutual respect that builds a University community of which we can all be proud. We recognize that the key to our excellence as a major research institution in the nation is our diversity. Therefore, this Web site will promote inclusive thinking and diverse perspectives, mindful learning and transformative dialogue both in and outside the classroom.
We invite you to visit this Web site often. As it evolves, we hope you will find it to be a valuable resource for understanding the various diversity initiatives that are already here, as well as opportunities to engage in new initiatives that will advance our forward thinking about issues of diversity, policy and practice. We know that diversity matters, that it makes a positive difference in the intellectual and cultural life of our University, and in the quality of life for all our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners.
Again, we welcome you and hope you will visit our site often to see our initiatives, programs, events and plans.
Warm regards,
