Diversity 3600 is a campus-wide diversity education program for students, faculty, and staff developed in collaboration with the Office for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity, the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity sponsors the Power of Diversity lecture series to inspire campus dialogue, community engagement and civic education and learning about the national narrative on diversity and inclusion. The annual series includes two distinguished guest speakers from the national or international scene and four scholars from our own faculty.
The speakers include scholars, thought leaders and diversity professionals whose research, scholarship, leadership and advocacy enhance the university's efforts to present diverse ideas, perspectives and viewpoints to inspire greater understanding and appreciation for inclusive excellence.
Diversity encompasses a variety of areas, from race and ethnicity to gender and age. The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity is working to spread knowledge across campus about the various dimensions of diversity, starting with its Train the Champion program.
- Foster an environment which is inclusive of dimensions of diversity;
- Assist with retention and recruitment of faculty, staff and students;
- Encourage overall workplace satisfaction; and
- Foster a sustained dialogue on diversity.
The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity provides a number of diversity awareness workshops and consultation services for students, faculty, and staff. In some cases, we develop a program specific to goals, participants, and time frame in order to accommodate the different classes, departments, offices, and student groups that request training.
The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity at Case Western Reserve University gives awards to members of the university community in recognition of significant contributions toward enhancing the university's commitment to diversity through inclusive thinking, mindful learning and transformative dialogue.
These awards recognize and encourage such contributions that may include promoting respect, building community, establishing effective cross-cultural initiatives and advocating equity and inclusion within the university community.
