About CROWN
CROWN initially began as a pilot study through the Department of Community Dentistry at Case Western Reserve University in 2001. The information gained from the original pilot study of just six offices, formed the foundation for four years of NIDCR funding for the Direct Observation Study (DOS) in 2003. From the DOS, a network of dentists interested in practice based research was formed, known now as CROWN. This network provided the opportunity for more research with a grant provided by the American Cancer Society in 2005 to study Oral Cancer, prevention methods, and rates. Participating dentists and dental students alike worked together in this practice based research.
Currently, CROWN is in the planning phase for several more study ideas. CROWN is still in its beginning phase, with much promise on the horizon. If you are interested in learning more about the network or would like to join, please see the membership page or use the contact link at the bottom of the page.
