CROWN: Community Research for Oral Wellness Network

CROWN is a network of general dentists in northern Ohio who have partnered with the Department of Community Dentistry at Case Western Reserve University. The purpose of this network is to bring general dentists within the community together with researchers, to address questions of importance to the practicing dentists.

Over 120 dentists have participated in one or more of the network studies and enrollment in future studies is open to any general dentist interested in practice based research. This provides a unique opportunity for any practicing dentist to suggest research ideas and participate in research conducted in their own offices. To date, CROWN has addressed topics involving the delivery of preventive services ,oral cancer screenings and executive coaching. Starting with its first study which began June 1, 2004, CROWN continues to gather important data from participating offices in the pursuit of furthering the field of dentistry. Additional studies are under development in collaboration with network members.
