Procession Instructions - Line up procession information
Emeriti Faculty will robe in the First Energy Room beginning at 3:45 p.m. At 4:15 p.m., the Emeriti will walk inside the Main Hall and assemble in the Grand Foyer, where they will wait for the Faculty Procession. They will follow the Banner Guard and lead the faculty inside the Main Hall, double file, except when reaching the side aisles, when the formation will split and march single file down the respective aisles and enter their assigned row. If members of the Emeritus cannot march, they can go directly to the auditorium to take their seats.
Faculty should line up double file in Smith lobby in Severance Hall beginning at 3:45 p.m. following the list provided by University Programs & Events. At 4:15 p.m., the faculty marshals should exit Smith Lobby facing Euclid Avenue and process down the sidewalk and split formation to line up on either side of the staircase outside Severance Hall. Once the faculty lines are in position on the main exterior staircase, UPE will provide a cue to the Platform Party so that they may begin their procession down Euclid Avenue and join the two columns of faculty. The Platform Party will fall in line behind the Faculty, while the Banner Guard will continue to march between the lines of the Faculty into the Grand Foyer. When faculty lines reach the Grand Foyer, they will pause and allow the Emeriti to join the line behind the Banner Guard and lead into the main hall. The procession will always march double file and enter through center doorways, but will split formation and march single file on side staircase and side aisles. The faculty will be seated in the audience in reserved seats in the center section of the hall behind the Emeriti.
Platform Party will assemble in the First Energy Room at 3:45 p.m. At 4:20 p.m., the Platform Party will exit the building facing Euclid, assembling with the Banner Guard on the terrace in double file lines. (In case of inclement weather, the procession will line up in the Taplin Room and process downstairs through the Smith lobby.) The Faculty and Delegates will be lined up on the exterior front staircase of Severance Hall and the Platform Party will line up behind this configuration. The procession will march two abreast, except when reaching the side aisles, when the formation will split and march single file down their respective aisles and up the stage side staircases to their respective seats.
