Community Outreach
Case Western Reserve University assigns great value to community service. Alongside teaching and research, it is an important element in our institutional mission.
Comprised of eight schools and a multitude of centers, hundreds of faculty, staff and students are regularly engaged in a variety of community outreach initiatives year round. Our partnerships fall into one of four categories: K-12, Health, Social Services and Economic Development.
Education: educational initiatives and partnerships between the university and students from local communities in grades pre K-12, Post-Secondary, and Adult Continuing Education.
Health: health initiatives and partnerships between the university and organizations seeking to improve the quality of health, research and services in the region.
Social Services: partnerships which integrate professional social work education, research and, service to promote social justice and empowerment in communities through social work practice locally, nationally and internationally.
Economic Development: a series of initiatives including strengthening intra-regional dialogue and extending it to include all aspects of the community; building a region's brainpower by developing and attracting highly educated individuals' connecting networks of innovators and entrepreneurs; building quality places with connected neighborhoods, vibrant mixed-use districts and a health environment; and creating a compelling brand identity for the region.
