Commencement Ceremonies Registration
If you plan to march in the University-wide Convocation and/or attend your diploma ceremony and did not register online, you must contact your Commencement coordinator.Online registration is open from March 1, 2008 8:00am EST until April 1, 2008 5:00pm EDT. Click Here to register.
School of Medicine Commencement Week Events Registration will close on May 1, 2008.
All School of Medicine graduates attending any of the Commencement Ceremonies are required to complete and submit the online registration by April 1, 2008. Completing this form will help us to adequately plan for the
proper number of guests who will be joining us for the Commencement ceremonies.

Commencement Week Events
Friday, May 16
*Commencement weekend kick-off!
Mandatory Class Meeting
Room E401, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
This meeting will serve as a rehearsal for Commencement, and all graduates are expected to attend. Interim Dean Pam Davis and other deans will attend to kick off the weekend.
Saturday, May 17
*Awards Ceremony and Reception
Awards Ceremony - 3:00 - 4:15 p.m., Strosacker Auditorum,
Awards Ceremony Reception - 4:15 - 5:30 p.m., Biomedical Research Building (BRB), Lobby and Cafeteria
School of Medicine honors, awards, and prizes will be presented, along with class memorabilia. All graduates and their families are invited to attend the ceremony and reception. Award winners will be notified in advance, but the entire class of 2008 is encouraged to attend.
Sunday, May 18
*Commencement Day Breakfast
Biomedical Research Building, Lobby and Cafeteria, 7:30 a.m.
Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. for graduates, families, and friends. A class photo will be taken of all graduates in full academic regalia. Cameras will be distributed to commemorate this special day. It is very important that graduates arrive at the BRB at this time to reserve their seat at Convocation and the diploma ceremony.
Graduates line up for procession to Veale for Convocation ceremony

Graduates will line up following the class photo for procession to the Convocation ceremony. Graduates must participate in Convocation in order to participate in the diploma ceremony at Severance Hall.

Commencement Ceremonies

Veale, 9:30 a.m.
Register for Convocation at www.case.edu/commencement . Convocation is a time when the University president confers degrees and is therefore, an important part of the Commencement ritual. Graduates registered for Convocation will be entitled to 2 guest tickets to this event. Tickets are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Convocation is always at capacity. Please register as soon as possible to ensure you will receive your two tickets. Guests will not be admitted to Convocation without a ticket.
To be placed on the waiting list for up to 2 additional tickets, please email Barbara Nicol at barbara.nicol@case.edu . If, after Convocation ticket distribution, any extra tickets remain, they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Barbara at 368-5515 with any questions.
The ceremony will be shown on large screens
in Emerson Physical Education Center (adjacent to Veale) for guests
not able to secure Convocation tickets.
At the conclusion of the Convocation ceremony, graduates will remain in procession formation while exiting Veale and will be joined by faculty to process down Adelbert Road to Severance Hall. The procession will be led by a bagpiper and should make for a great photo opportunity for your family.
At Severance Hall, graduates
should go to Reinberger Hall
for alphabetical line up to process into the main hall.
School of Medicine Diploma Ceremony
11:30 a.m. in Severance Hall (doors open at 11:00 a.m. )
No tickets are required for the diploma ceremony, and there is no limit to the number of people you may invite. However, you still must register to participate in the School of Medicine Diploma Ceremony. Online registration is closed.
School of Medicine Commencement Events & Information
School of Medicine Reception
Immediately following the Commencement ceremony, a reception will be held in the atrium of University Hospitals. All Commencement attendees,
family, and friends are welcome to attend. We recommend that you designate a location at the hospital atrium to meet your family following the ceremony.

Appropriate attire
Graduates must wear Case academic regalia to participate in the Commencement ceremonies. No shorts are permitted. No adornment of any kind should be worn outside the robe or cap, and no item may be carried, including purses. Personal belongings may be left in the BRB Auditorium or in the room at
Reinberger Hall. Keep in mind that Commencement day involves some foot travel, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Photography
A professional photographer will take a photo of each graduate on stage at Severance Hall. For safety reasons, no other guests will be permitted on the stage.

The following locations are great spots for photo opportunities:
- Awards ceremony and reception at Strosacker
- Commencement breakfast in the BRB lobby and cafeteria
- Procession to Veale for Convocation
- Procession down Adelbert Road to the diploma ceremony
- Commencement reception at the atrium of University Hospitals
Hooding Information
Hooding will be done by the School of Medicine Society Deans, Drs. Haynie, McKinley, Ricanati and Smith.
Requests for hooding exceptions will be handled through the School of Medicine's Special Event Office and guidelines will be posted soon.
