For the past four years, CollabTech has brought together educators, instructional technologists and others from the greater Cleveland/Akron area for a day of networking and professional development led by nationally known thinkers in higher education and academic technologies.
This year's conference focuses specifically on how higher education can address the needs of society by providing opportunities for learners to acquire 21st century skills such as flexibility, creativity, and collaborative thinking. Conversely, we focus on how higher education might change society by helping students become better thinkers and collaborators through innovative teaching and learning and instructional technologies.
In addition to 8 breakout sessions, we feature two panels that focus on the broad themes of this year's CollabTech. Our morning panel focuses on higher education and society, while the afternoon panel addresses the challenges and opportunities of learning in a hyper-connected world.
Our luncheon keynote, David Weinberger, is a respected author and thought-leader. He is a senior researcher at Harvard Law's Berkman Center for the Internet & Society and Co-Director of the Harvard Library Innovation Lab at Harvard Law School. Weinberger is a well know blogger and frequent commentator on "NPR's All Things Considered" and "Here and Now".
Again, on behalf of the planning committee, thank you for coming today and sharing your thoughts and ideas. We look forward to meeting you and continuing our conversations well into the future.
