CLEVELAND, OH (November 10th, 2007)- The Case Western Reserve University women’s swimming and diving team won the 2007 Veale Classic after defeating the College of Wooster 123-108 at the Veale Natatorium in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Spartans (3-1) 400-yard medley relay team of freshman Ellen Crummy (Butler, PA), junior Janine Machala (North Olmstead, OH), freshman Kellie Chang (Fairfax Station, VA) and freshman Nicole Lord (Akron, OH) placed first with a time of 4:12.65. Freshman Kelsey Zeller (Cincinnati, OH) won the 1650-yard freestyle event with a time of 18:44.06 and the 500-yard freestyle at 5:26.55.
Freshman Emma Call (Baltimore, MD) was instrumental in the Spartans victory over the Fighting Scots. Call won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:55.73 and than won the 200-yard butterfly, finishing at 2:18.07.
The Spartans travel to Grove City, PA for the Grove City Meet next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
