UAA CHAMPIONSHIPS...
CLEVELAND, OH (February 9, 2008) - Junior wrestler Drew Gardella (149; Sagamore Hills, OH – pictured) went 2-0 this afternoon at the University Athletic Association Championships at New York University, earning himself the UAA Most Outstanding Wrestler award.
In Case's first dual against the University of Chicago, Gardella pinned Jack Toussaint in 4:28 to get the Spartans' first victory of the afternoon. The Maroons would win the dual, 35-12.
Against host NYU, Gardella notched Case's only victory of the dual, as he pinned Matt Magill in 6:45 for the win. The Spartans would fall, 44-6, in the dual.
On the year, Gardella pushes his record to 15-3, while moving his career record to 86-23.
The Spartans be at home next weekend (Feb. 16) as they host the Case Tri-Meet. Muskingum and RIT are scheduled to compete in the meet, which will start at 11:00 a.m. in Horsburgh Gymnasium.
