 CLEVELAND, OH (January 12, 2008) - Senior Dave Manoogian (141; Green, OH) finished the weekend undefeated (4-0), as the Case Western Reserve University wrestling team finished the weekend 1-3 at the Whitehill Duals at Lycoming College.
The team notched a 24-23 win over Norwich in their first dual, but fell to Wilkes, 32-9, in their later match.
With the Spartans down 23-18 in the final match against Norwich, senior heavyweight Bob Gavlak (285; Brunswick, OH – pictured) pinned Jake Krik-Elkin in 5:39 to give the Spartans the 24-23 win over the Cadets. Gavlak also finished the weekend undefeated (4-0).
Against Wilkes, Manoogian notched a 5-2 decision over Brandon Prentice, with Drew Gardella (149; Sagamore Hills, OH) following it up with a 13-11 decision to put the Spartans up 10-6. In the final match of the weekend, Gavlak scored a 9-3 decision over Jake Weinrich.
The Spartans will host Mount Union College on Jan. 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Horsburgh Gym.
