CLEVELAND, OH (December 1, 2007) - The Case Western Reserve wrestling team finished 14th overall at the 42nd Annual Rochester Institute of Technology Invitational at Clark Gym in Rochester, New York on Saturday.
Senior Nate Klingensmith (157; Uniontown, PA-pictured) lost his opening match to Baldwin-Wallace's Joe Incorvaia, but then went on to win six consecutive matches to finish third in his weight class.
Klingensmith scored a 6-1 decision over Morrisville State's Brandon Olsen, then toppled Oswego State's Marc Collins by a 8-3 decision to move on to the next round. From there, he notched a 11-5 decision over Oswego's Wayne Lampi and a 6-2 decision over Wesleyan University's Zach Rolfe to move on to the semifinals. He then claimed a 5-2 decision over RIT's Nate Bachmann, the number-one seeded wrestler in his weight class. In third-place final, Klingensmith claimed a 8-5 decision over Justin Barowski from Wilkes University.
The Spartan wrestling team will compete in the Citrus Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Dec. 28-29.
