CASE TRI MEET ...
CLEVELAND, OH (February 10, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University won both their dual meets today defeating Rochester Institute of Technology 26-16 and Muskingum 39-12. In the first match against RIT junior JoJo Howell (Atlanta, GA) and Drew Gardella (Sagamore Hills, OH) both scored bonus points for the Spartans. Howell had a pin and Gardella won by technical fall. Senior Mike Sanchez (Dayton, OH-pictured) won by decision and junior Nathan Klingensmith (Uniontown, PA), and sophomore David Bernholt (Versailles, OH) won by forfeit. Senior Russ Tischer (Parma, OH) and junior Dawud Wilson (Cleveland, OH) both lost close matches to quality opponents.
In the second match of the day Russ Tischer bounced back to defeat a talented sophomore from Muskingum with a familiar last name 4-1. JoJo Howell had his second pin of the day. Also scoring a pin for the Spartans was 184 pounder David Bernholt. Tim Sykes and Dawud Wilson both received forfeits for valuable team points. Nathan Klingensmith won by major decision and senior 165 pounder Mike Sanchez won by technical fall for his 126 victory moving him past Case wrestling legend Zak Kallai into sole possession of second place on the Spartan's all-time win list.
The Spartans will be back in action on February 17, 2007 at the Midwest Regional at Manchester College .
