2004 CITRUS DUALS ...
CLEVELAND, OH (December 30, 2004) - A day after competing in the 2004 Citrus Open, the Case Western Reserve University returned to Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL for the Citrus Duals. The Spartans competed in three team dual matches, claiming a 30-24 victory against Lawrence University but falling to both Ursinus College (33-9) and Rhode Island College (35-8).
Leading the way for Case was sophomore Russ Tischer (Parma, OH) at 157 pounds. Tischer completed the Duals with a 3-0 record, including a pin and tech. fall decision. Other notable Spartan wrestlers were freshman Geoff Protz (West Geauga, OH) at 141 pounds and sophomore Pat Jeffers (Kent, OH) at 149 pounds, who were both 2-0 in their matches. In addition, sophomore Mike Sanchez (Dayton, OH) finished the day with a 2-1 mark at the 165-pound weight class.
The Spartans will return to the mat on Saturday, January 8 for a 1:00 p.m. dual match against Mt. Union College in Alliance, OH.
