2004 CITRUS OPEN ...
CLEVELAND, OH (December 29, 2004) - The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team spent the day in sunny Florida at the 2004 Citrus Open at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale , FL. The Spartans finished 10 th out of 12 teams with a score of 28.5. Local John Carroll University won the Open with 130.5 points.
Case sophomore 197-pounder Thomas Sanders ( Auburn , AL ) had a nice tournament finishing 3-2 for fourth. Sanders opened with bye, defeated Jared Alfred of Ursinus 2-0, defeated John Carroll's Dan Brown 3-1, lost to Dan Fiecke of St. Johns 5-2, pinned (3:40) Heidelberg 's Bryan Lichty, and then lost to Carroll's Brown 3-2 to finish fourth.
The Spartans will participate in the Citrus Duals tomorrow.
