RIT WRESTLING INVITE ...
CLEVELAND, OH (December 4, 2004) - The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team placed 12 th out of 16 teams this past weekend at the Rochester Institute of Technology Invite with a score of 40. Local John Carroll University won the wrestling invite with 147.50 points.
Case freshman 141-pounder Geoff Protz ( Chesterland , OH ), the number three seed, lost to Robert Doherty of Johnson & Wales in the third place match 2-1. Protz finished with a 3-2 record. Spartan sophomore 197-pounder Thomas Sanders ( Brookstone , GA ), seed number four, also placed fourth losing to RIT's Zach Greenberg in the third place match. Sanders finished the day 3-2 as well.
Off note, Case sophomore heavy weight (285 pounds) Ray Rowe (North Olmsted, OH) upset the number one seed Bryan Kmetz of Baldwin Wallace College 6-4 in double overtime in round two. The Spartans travel south to Ft. Lauderdale December 29-30 for the Citrus Tournament (29 th ) and Duals (30 th ).
