MESSIAH INVITATIONAL ...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 6, 2004) - The Case Western Reserrve University wrestling team began it's 2004-05 season today at the Messiah College Invitational.
The Spartans finished sixth out of 11 teams with a score of 48.5. Ursinus College won the invitational with 96.5 points.
Case had two wrestlers place first at Messiah. Sophomore Russ Tischer ( Parma , OH ) defeated Mark Barber of Ursinus 3-0 to claim the crown at 157 pounds and at 285 sophomore Ray Rowe ( North Olmsted , OH ) defeated James Bishop of Kings 10-8 to win it.
Case sophomore Thomas Sanders ( Auburn , AL ) defeated Tony Dambro of Johns Hopkins 5-4 in the third place match at 197 pounds and Spartan sophomore Mike Sanchez ( Dayton , OH ) lost to Derek Ricker of Messiah 3-2 the third place match.
The Spartan host their first of two quads this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the Veale Center with Baldwin Wallace, Waynesburg, and Mt. St. Joseph.
